Portugal produced enough renewable energy to power the country for one month. 104% of Portugal’s electricity consumption in March was generated by renewable energy. Wind and hydroelectric power were the main source. The country had beaten it’s own record of 99.2%in 2014. It is the largest amount of renewable energy that this country has generated in the last 40 years.
The plentiful wet season was the main energy source, providing about 97% of March’s supply. Approximately 1.8 million tons of CO2 saved from the atmosphere due to this renewable energy source.
